Remondis JBT answer DIY SOS's call for help
“There’s been a fantastic turnout from people in the area and the greater area, people coming from all over to join in. Everybody seems to know what they are doing, suppliers have been brilliant at providing us with all the kit we need: there’s a really good vibe going on and we’re sure we can make a difference for this family.” – Nick Knowles

REMONDIS supplied skips and waste management to a deserving family from Newcastle that is featuring on the BBC One series ‘DIY SOS: The Big Build’. Our skips were used as part of a life-changing transformation to their home.

The DIY SOS build:

In the episode of DIY SOS filmed in North Shields, Tyne and Wear, a local family were given a life-changing opportunity to rebuild their home and lives.

The family live in a 1950s semi-detached house which lacked the necessary space and facilities required to make looking after their 3 year old daughter at home, who suffers from a rare genetic condition possible.

The plan was to build a single story extension at the rear of the property and convert the garage (under permitted development) into a bedroom and separate bathroom accommodating specialist equipment and provide much needed safe space.

How Remondis helped:

REMONDIS answered DIY S.O.S’s call for help when they began looking for Waste Management companies to provide skips and waste disposal in the North Shields area. We welcomed the opportunity to support this worthy cause, so we delivered 8 yard builders skips to enable the volunteering trades people to dispose of the project waste safely, compliantly and efficiently. Over the build, we collected and processed over 40 tonnes of mixed construction waste, ensuring prompt skip delivery/collection so that the tradespeople were never left skipless!

It is amazing how something like this is able to bring hundreds of trades and suppliers together from all different walks of the industry, working together. It’s astounding to see how the community was able to get together and transform the family’s home and wonderful to be part of such a great community in the North East.

We wish the family all the very best and hope that the new additions to their home will give them everything that they need!
